RapidRecovery and Disaster Recovery Planning - reducing the risk of lost data

 At ABC Computer Solutions we help companies get systems back online quickly in the event of a system failure or major problem.

Many businesses don’t have the time to check their backups and when they actually need it to recover a deleted or overwritten file, or even perform a full recovery, they find the backup has become corrupted, out of date or virtually impossible to recover.

We aim to have you up and running very quickly by providing a RapidRecovery multi-layer backup system consisting of two or more of the following methods:

  • Daily cloning of your servers - an image of your server drives is taken overnight, which means in the event of data corruption or disk failure, the system such as disk failure, the system can be up and running in the minimal time. This takes a fraction of the time a full backup restore takes, in the event of an extended wait for the repairs to your server, we can have a standby clone server ready to loan you.
  • Regular cloning of your PCs and laptops to recover them back to a “perfect” configuration in the event of a bad infection, failed drive or component.
  • Key folder backup - depending on your workload we can automate your server to backup your most important files and folders from every 15 minutes to once a day. This is ideal for retrieving files that have accidentally become overwritten or deleted. It also acts as the perfect medium for accessing any files that have changed or been added since the last time your server was cloned. This is a very transparent backup that allows you to recover folders instantly.
  • Your email folders can be automatically backed up as regularly as you wish.
  • The implementation of a Virtual PC or network PC to act as a backup file server.
  • For additional peace of mind, we can also provide you with online backup, either to one of our servers or to your own offsite location.

We carry out a thorough check of your systems onsite to pinpoint any weaknesses and implement a disaster recovery plan it order to ensure your data is safe-guarded at all times. Ask yourself:

  • Are all the devices I rely on protected by uninterrupted power supplies and how long will they supply my devices in the event of a power cut.
  • What is my current backup strategy for my network. What level of redundancy do I have for my server drives and hardware?
  • What plan do I currently have in place to deal with a server or network failure?
  • How quickly will an engineer attend and replace a faulty component with my current support contract?
  • How recent and reliable is my server backup should the hard drives fail or have been badly corrupted?
  • How long can my business realistically manage without access to the Internet, emails and key files shared on the server.
  • Do I have a plan in place what to do in the event of a break in, fire or my premises became inaccessible (gas/water leak)?

As part of the RapidRecovery we monitor your backups and help you recover files that have been accidentally deleted or over-written. We also review what steps you should take when you have a serious problem, such as a server failure, fire, break in or your offices become inaccessible because of a water or gas leak.

Normal backups can take three days to get that back to how it was plus you’ve lost all the work since your last back up, so this has to be re-entered, so you could have lost a full week and be facing several further days of disruption - the financial implications can be considerable.

With our RapidRecovery we aim to have you up and running a couple of hours of the problem using a secondary system, leaving the time to get back to normal without paying excessive out of hours fees.
